Sirius Radio’s The Catholic Channel has posted an interview it conducted today with both Cardinal Edward Egan, the retiring archbishop of New York, and his successor Archbishop Timothy Dolan.
Archbishop Dolan will be installed as New York’s archbishop on April 15.
During the interview, Archbishop Dolan says he experienced “the liberation of obedience” when Archbishop Pietro Sambi, the apostolic nuncio to the United States, informed him a little over a week ago that Pope Benedict XVI had appointed him to become the next archbishop of New York.
Said Archbishop Dolan, “I said, ‘Well, there you go, let’s do it.’ We trust in the Lord and go ahead.”
Added Archbishop Dolan, “These have been days of prayer, these have been days of excitement and anticipation.”
