The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign decided today that Kenneth Howell will be allowed to teach Catholicism courses again.
According to the Alliance Defense Fund, which has been representing Howell in the matter, “the University of Illinois Office of University Counsel admits no wrongdoing on the part of the university but states, ‘The School of Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics will be contacting Dr. Howell to offer him the opportunity to teach Religion 127, Introduction to Catholicism, on a visiting instructional appointment at the University of Illinois, for the fall 2010 semester. Dr. Howell will be appointed and paid by the university for this adjunct teaching assignment.’”
The News-Gazette is reporting the rehiring and that the university has cut ties with the St. John’s Catholic Newman Center on campus.
The Chicago Tribune also covered this breaking news.

Please read here why this is no victory: http://cosmos-liturgy-sex.com/2010/07/29/ken-howell-the-u-of-is-response-a-poison-pill/
the New-Gazette said that UI offered a $10,000 salary for teaching 3 courses per semester… that seems very low .... perhaps something o nthe order of $30,000 a year if he teaches in the summer also… our public school teachers with a BA get better than that here in Texas. IT sounds like a financial invitation to find another job
